TVS Sport vs Hero Splendor Plus: Mileage King or Safe Bet?

Nearly every budget buyer in Araria starts with the Hero Splendor Plus in mind, because everyone they know has owned one. The TVS Sport is the bike that gives them a reason to think again. Here is the comparison we walk customers through on our showroom floor.

Mileage, where the Sport makes its name

The TVS Sport is rated at around 73 kmpl, which is the highest figure in our motorcycle range and among the best of any petrol motorcycle sold in India. The Splendor Plus is quoted lower. In real riding around the district, with a pillion and imperfect roads, both fall short of their brochure numbers, but the Sport has consistently held the lead among customers who report back to us.

Engine and load carrying

The Sport runs 109.7 cc producing 8.18 PS against 97.2 cc and roughly 8 PS for the Splendor. The outputs are close, but displacement is not the same as output. The Sport reaches its power with less effort, which is what you feel when you set off from a standstill carrying a second adult and a bag of shopping.

Comfort on Araria roads

At 112 kg the Sport is light and easy to place in a crowded market lane, and its long seat and soft suspension suit the broken surfaces on the routes out towards Forbesganj. The Splendor is equally manageable and has decades of proof behind its comfort. Neither will punish you on a daily 40 km.

Cost of ownership

Both are simple, cheap to service and easy to repair. The practical difference is where the work gets done. Resale value

The Splendor has the stronger resale reputation nationally, and that is a fair point in its favour. In practice, a well maintained Sport with a full service history from an authorized dealership sells easily in this district, because demand for cheap-to-run commuters never really softens here.

Which one should you buy?

• Choose the TVS Sport for the highest rated mileage in our range, a larger engine and authorized service in Araria itself.
• Choose the Splendor Plus if resale reputation and the sheer number of mechanics who know it are your priorities.
• For a tougher build on rough village roads, also look at the TVS Radeon.

Our honest view is that the Splendor is bought on reputation and the Sport is bought on arithmetic. If you run the fuel numbers over five years at 40 km a day, the Sport case is strong, and it comes with a slightly larger engine that will be working less hard the whole time.
