Performance

The 390 Duke makes roughly 46 PS against 35.6 PS for the Apache, and it is comfortably the faster motorcycle. That gap is real and there is no arguing it away. What the Apache offers is 35.6 PS delivered in a way that is easier to use on unpredictable road surfaces, which describes most of the roads around Araria.

Electronics and equipment

The Apache RTR 310 is one of the best equipped motorcycles at its price anywhere in India, with multiple ride modes, a full colour TFT display, SmartXonnect connectivity and further rider aids on higher variants. The KTM is well equipped too, but the Apache gives you more for less money.

Comfort and everyday usability

The Apache is the more accommodating of the two. Its riding position is sporty without being punishing, and at 169 kg it is stable on the highway. The 390 Duke is sharper, more aggressive and more demanding, which is thrilling on the right road and hard work on the wrong one.

Running cost

The Apache is rated at around 30 kmpl and the larger, more powerful KTM returns less. Consumables and service intervals also favour the Apache. Over three years of ownership that difference is not trivial.
